Platinum Jubilee Inauguration and Kallitta Feast Celebrated at Parambanchery Church

Muvattupuzha: The Platinum Jubilee celebrations of St. Stephen’s Knanaya Catholic Church, Parambanchery were officially inaugurated by Bishop Geevarghese Mar Aprem.

As part of the celebrations, a ceremonial jubilee torch was carried from the mother parish at Varappetty Church to Parambanchery. In remembrance of the early settlers of the parish, thirteen parishioners above the age of 75 led the torch procession. Upon its arrival at Parambanchery, the torch was received by members of KCC, KCWA, KCYL, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society and was then handed over to thirteen children under the age of 15, who carried it reverently to the sanctuary.

Bishop Mar Aprem received the torch and lit the specially prepared Jubilee Lamp in the sanctuary. As part of the traditional Kallitta Feast, a solemn Holy Mass and procession were also conducted.

The public meeting that followed was presided over by Parish Priest Fr. Thomas Keenthananickal, during which Bishop Mar Aprem formally inaugurated the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Mathew Kuzhalnadan unveiled the Jubilee Logo and delivered the keynote address. Other speakers included Fr. Mathukutty Kulakattukudiyil, Jubilee Committee Convener John Theruvath, and parish trustees Johnson Ammayikkunnel and Biju Veluthamveettil.

A choir led by Sr. Joniya presented the Jubilee theme song. As part of the jubilee observance, Jubilee candles and prayer cards were distributed to all families of the parish.
