Mar Thomas Tharail, who led the Archdiocese of Kottayam for 23 years, was commemorated at Christ Raja Cathedral, Kottayam. Mar Mathew Moolakat offered a thanksgiving Mass and  offered prayers at  the  tomb. In the midst of the Holy Mass, the Auxiliary Bishop Mar Joseph Pandarasseril  delivered the homily. . At a time when most people in Kerala were not familiar with the lifestyle dedicated to secular institutes, the founding of the Caritas Secular Institute in the Diocese  was a decisive step in the Syro-Malabar Church and BCM, which is flourishing as the Tilakuri of the literary city of Kottayam.  Vicar General Fr. Michael Vetticott, Chancellor Fr. John Chennakuzhi, Additional Chancellor Fr. Jithin Vallarkatil were also present.
