Chicago: The annual activities of the Little Flower Mission League at Sacred Heart Forane Church in Bensenville were inaugurated in a prayerful atmosphere on Sunday, October 18. The inauguration ceremony was held before the Holy Qurbana for children.
The young missionaries entered the church in a procession carrying banners inscribed with the values of love, service, patience, and sacrifice, along with the Mission League flags. They then offered flowers before the statue of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, expressing their commitment to the missionary mission of the Church.
Parish vicar Fr. Abraham Kalarickal observed that the collective activities of the Little Flower Mission League had enabled the young missionaries of Bensenville to extend helping hands even to mission territories across continents. He particularly appreciated the children’s efforts to nurture the missionary spirit of the Church through organized activities and selfless service.
Sister Soumy, Mother General of the Congregation of St. Joseph in the Archdiocese of Kottayam, addressed the children and inaugurated the Mission League’s activities for the year. She emphasized that the missionary spirit should begin in families and that children should be encouraged to participate in missionary activities from an early age.
She also reminded the children that men and women who understand the cultures and lifestyles of different countries and respond to religious and priestly vocations can make valuable contributions to the Church’s missionary activities.
The inauguration served as an inspiration for the young missionaries to strengthen their missionary spirit and deepen their faith.
The newly elected office-bearers of the Little Flower Mission League—Eshana Puthusseril, Aidan Vanchipurackal, Clayon Naramangalam, Samuel Thevermatathil, and Nevin Panickassery—led the arrangements for the event along with Colleen Keezhangattu, Ancy Zacharia Chelaykkal, and Jubin Panickassery.
