Kottayam Archdiocese holds a special position in the Syro-Malabar Church – Cardinal Mar George  Alenchery

Kothanallur: Kottayam Archdiocese occupies a special position in the Syro-Malabar Church, and the Kottayam Archdiocese can protect the heritage and tradition of the Knanaya community by growing in the community, ensuring participation and emphasizing on outreach work, said the Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, Mar George Alenchery. He was speaking while inaugurating the 4th Eparchial Assembly of Kottayam Archdiocese at Thuanisa. Faith does not even deserve the name faith if it does not grow culturally. He stated that the Syro-Malabar Church has always been with the Kottayam Archdiocese in creating pastoral facilities in areas where the presence of the Knanaya  community is high. He highlighted that the work done by the members of the Knanaya community outside the Archdiocese of Kottayam is commendable. He added that community thinking should be maintained in close proximity to the church.
Mar Mathew Mulakat in his presidential speech highlighted the need for the pastoral arrangements of this Archdiocese to be possible in all the places where Knanaites is present, and the Knanaya community is the people who travel with God and Kottayam archdiocese was given for the people of the South.
