Townsville: Making an impressive journey from the cricket grounds of Townsville to the bigger stages of Australian junior cricket, 12-year-old Knanaya youngster Kristen Kuriakose is emerging as a promising young talent. Known for his pace bowling, accurate yorkers, and impressive inswingers, Kristen has already made a mark on the junior cricket circuit.

At the recent North Queensland Cricket Carnival, Kristen claimed 12 wickets, including six wickets in the final alone, playing a crucial role in his team’s championship victory. In addition to finishing as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker, Kristen was also named the Best Bowler of the tournament.

The young Malayalam-speaking talent has also been the leading wicket-taker in age-group tournaments in Townsville for the past three seasons. His outstanding performances earned him selection to the Northern Schoolboys team, giving him the golden opportunity to represent North Queensland at the State Championship in Brisbane.

Kristen is currently training under the direct supervision of former Australian cricketer Joe Scattari and former Sri Lanka National Junior Team coach Samith Dhanushka. Inspired by legendary Australian fast bowlers such as Brett Lee and Glenn McGrath, Kristen dreams of reaching greater heights in the world of cricket.

His parents, Kuriakose Thoppil and Stiny Kuriakose, sisters Melrose and Isabella, and the Knanaya community in Townsville are providing him with their wholehearted support as he pursues his cricketing dreams.
