Houston: Honoring the love, sacrifice, and greatness of motherhood, Mother’s Day was celebrated with great joy and devotion at St. Mary’s Knanaya Catholic Forane Church Houston on Sunday, May 10. Special programs were organized after the solemn Holy Qurbana to recognize and appreciate mothers in the parish community.
The celebrations were led by parish vicar Rev. Fr. Abraham Mutholath and assistant vicar Fr. Joshy Valiyaveettil. As part of the observance, Mother’s Day gifts were presented to mothers in appreciation of their invaluable role as the foundation of families and the Church. In their message, the priests reminded the faithful that honoring mothers, who symbolize unconditional love and sacrifice, is a sacred responsibility of the Christian community.
Parish trustees Saji Marangattil, Sabu Karukaparambil, James Vadakkekara, and Jijo Vattamattam, along with parish executive members Jose Pulickathottil, Sister Lisin SJC, Bibi Thekkanattu, and members of the parish council actively coordinated the celebrations. Their dedicated involvement added warmth and spirit to the event.
Members of the parish Senior Ministry, including Mathew Tharayil, Jose Tharayil, Thomas Kanichattuthara, Celine Pachikkara, and Jiji Kulakkat, organized a fellowship gathering and refreshments for the faithful. The fellowship meal and snack distribution following the celebrations reflected the unity, love, and togetherness of the Knanaya community in Houston.
Hundreds of parishioners, including parents and children, participated in the Mother’s Day celebrations, making the event another memorable occasion of spiritual and social unity within the parish community. Rev. Fr. Abraham Mutholath and Fr. Joshy Valiyaveettil extended heartfelt Mother’s Day wishes to all mothers who strengthen families and the Church through their love and dedication.
