Chicago: The Cherupushpa Mission League (CML) unit of St. Mary’s Knanaya Catholic Church conducted an induction ceremony for fourth-grade students on September 13, following the Children’s Holy Mass. Around 30 students participated in the ceremony and were welcomed as new members of the CML.

Parish Vicar Fr. Siju Mudakkodiyil led the ceremony. Carrying flowers, the children came before the altar and offered them in front of the image of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the patron saint of the CML. The offering of flowers symbolized the children’s dedication of their hearts, talents, and lives to Jesus.

The children were encouraged to follow the example of St. Thérèse by doing even the smallest things with great love and by spreading Christ’s love through prayer, service, and sharing. The importance of practicing love, compassion, and a spirit of service in the family, school, parish, and society was also emphasized.

Following the flower offering, the children gathered before the altar, where Fr. Siju Mudakkodiyil blessed and presented the CML badges to the new members. The badge was described as a sign of their commitment to follow Jesus, grow in faith, and serve others joyfully.

The children also took a pledge to live out the CML message of “Service, Sacrifice, Love and Suffering.” They expressed their willingness to grow in faith, serve others, make sacrifices, share God’s love, and follow the example of St. Thérèse.

Prior to the induction ceremony, Sr. Aniya and James Kunnassery conducted a CML orientation class for the fourth-grade students. The children were introduced to the objectives, mission, and activities of the CML and were guided on how to put faith, service, love, and sacrifice into practice in their daily lives.

Welcoming the new members to the CML, Fr. Siju Mudakkodiyil wished them God’s abundant blessings and guidance in their journey of faith. CML Director Jojo Analil coordinated the program, which was conducted with the cooperation and support of the DREs, CCD teachers, and trustees.
