Houston:The celebration, which was held by all the youth of the parish as part of the main Feast held in the name of the Holy Mother of God at St. Mary’s Catholic Knanaya Church was very notable.
The feast held in the name of the Holy Mother of God was celebrated on Wednesday, October 8th at 6.30 pm under the auspices of the Vicar Fr. Abraham Mutholath and Assistant Vicar Fr. Joshi Valiyaveetil. This was followed by a nine-day novena and six days of Retreat, Adoration and confession. The first feast of Saint Carlo Acutetus, who was declared a saint by the Catholic Church on September 7, 2025, was celebrated in the parish on October 12th by all the youth. The Mass in the Syro-Malankara Rite and the Rasa-Qrbana in the Syro-Malabar Rite were very noteworthy.
On Saturday, October 18, Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhath, President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India and Archbishop of Thrissur, presided over the Holy Mass and services. Fr. Boban Vattompurath, Vicar of San Antonio Parish, delivered the eulogy. Then, the young people of the parish, carrying the image of the Blessed Mother, led a procession of the rosary with candles in their hands.

On the feast day, Sunday, October 19, at 9:30 a.m., a devout and festive Rasa Mass was celebrated under the presiding authority of Father Mar Joy Alappatt, Bishop of the Syro-Malabar Diocese of Chicago. The church was packed with parishioners and young people, who were actively present.
Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhath delivered the festive message. The father congratulated the youth of the parish for taking up the festive occasion. The father reminded us in his introduction that he was happy and proud to see the youth actively and energetically involved in parish activities. Mar Andrews Thazhath urged the youth to become witnesses of Jesus by holding Jesus in their hearts like Mary, and to use new media to the fullest to become propagators of goodness and Christian values. In this era when innovative methods such as artificial intelligence are becoming popular, the father also said in his message that the youth should come forward to proclaim Jesus in this way as well.
On October 19th at 6.30 pm, the Kalasandhya was inaugurated by Mar Joy Alappatt. This was followed by a beautiful, eye-catching, and heart-warming performance by all the children and youth of the parish, which was a colorful and inspiring cultural evening that instilled Christian values.
On feast days, there was Holy Communion and Veena every evening.
Meditation and worship were held for the youth on Saturday and Sunday, October 11th and 12th, and for everyone in the parish from Monday, 13th to Thursday, 15th, after Holy Mass until 9:00 p.m. The meditation was led by Brother Prince Vithayathil, Jerin, Neetu, Roy Thachil, Sheeba Mutholath and Vannivar of the Missionaries of Apostolic Grace UK.
It was an amazing experience to see all the young people in the parish work together day and night, hand in hand, to decorate and prepare the festival with pride, with energy, love, and joy, making it a grand success.
