Dr.Sashi Tharoor’s recent article in “The Week” about an Indian Pope(October 22,2023) provoked me to do some research on’Papabili). My choice of candidates based on certain criteria.
1.)The eligibility of the electable candidate geographically.-From Malta to Ghana.
2) Among 129 electors 99 are created Cardinals by Pope Francis.
3)The Cardinal voters nearing 80 years of age.
4)Most probably a Synod 2023 participant Cardinal have a better chance.
62 Cardinals were at Synod assembly.
My Guess:
1. Mario Cardinal Grech of Malta.
2. ⁠Pietro Cardinal Parolin, Secretary of State.
3. ⁠Matteo
Cardinal Zuppi of Bologna, Italy
4. ⁠Peter Cardinal Erdo of Hungary.
5. ⁠Luis Antonio Tagle, Philippines, now in Rome.
These are human guesses studying various Vatican Observers. Our God is God of Surprises. One who enters Conclave as Pope, comes out as Cardinal. Wait and see.
