Miami: The ‘Annadanam for the Hungry’ project, which is being run under the auspices of the Miami St. Jude Knanaya Catholic Parish, is gaining attention in Florida. This program, which has been successfully running for the past one year under the leadership of Vicar Fr. Saji Pinarkka, is becoming a refuge for many homeless and needy American citizens. This ministry of the Miami Knanaya Catholic Parish is very helpful for the poor who wander around downtown Fort Lauderdale.
On two Saturdays a month, after the 9:30 a.m. Mass in the parish, parishioners, under the leadership of the vicar, Vincent DePaul, and the Legion of Mary, prepare American meals and distribute them to those in need. Food packages are distributed to the needy in downtown areas. The food distribution begins with a short sermon based on the Gospel. The parishioners happily undertake the expenses for the food distribution.
