The 2025 Knanaya Region Cricket Tournament was held on July 19 and 20 at Trompley Park Grounds in Warren, Michigan. The tournament featured teams from various parishes in the Knanaya Region of the United States and Canada.
The tournament was organized under the leadership of the Men’s Ministry of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish in Detroit. Rev. Fr. Joseph Tharakkal, vicar of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish in Detroit, inaugurated the tournament. Rev. Fr. Bins Chethalil and Detroit Windsor KCS President Jain Kannachanparambil conveyed their greetings. Detroit St. Mary’s Knanaya Catholic Parish Trustees Sebastian Vanchithanathu, Xavier Thottathil, and Detroit Windsor KCS Secretary Jins Thanath were present. The Knanaya United Chicago team emerged victorious by defeating Sacred Heart London Canada in a thrilling final. The first place winners received $2500 & trophy sponsored by Juby Chakkunkal (C4D Mortgage), the second place winners received $1500 & trophy sponsored by Detroit St. Mary’s Men’s Ministry, the third place winners received $750 & trophy sponsored by Philip Chirayil Myalil (Fathom Reality), and the third place winners received $500 & trophy sponsored by Baby Mathews in memory of KT Mathews from Kannachanparambil and Christ the King Dallas. Nishad Jose won the Best Wicketkeeper award in Inchanad. In the raffle draw held during the music evening held on the evening of July 19, the first prize was a 75′ TV by Joseph Alappatt of Chicago, the second prize was a laptop by Johnson Mannukunnel of Chicago, and the third prize was an ear pod by Jose Abraham of Detroit. Rev. Fr. Saji Chazhisseril, the vicar of the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in London, Canada, expressed his best wishes. Sponsored by Detroit Windsor KCS, Man of the Match Semifinal 1 was won by Philip Mathew, Semifinal 2 & Final by Jonas Chira and Man of the Series by Jonas Chira. Rev. Fr. Bins Chethalil announced that the 2026 Knanaya Region Cricket Tournament will be held in Chicago and received the 2025 tournament banner from Rev. Fr. Jose Tharakkal, Bejoy Kavanan, Georgi Chakkacheril and Nikhil Vettikat.
